Your Identity and Purpose
‘A life of purpose is fully expressed when who we think we are, and who we really are, align on a daily basis.
This true identity can only be uncovered in the pursuit of learning who we are in God’s eyes.’
We’ve discussed the essentials and objectives necessary for walking the journey through life to find purpose and meaning.
The one thing we haven’t yet covered is-
How do you fix your biggest problem?
I have three lists for you today that may help you on your journey to understanding God, who he is, and who you are through His eyes.
The first list:
GOD’S CHARACTERS
GOD IS A PERSONAL SPIRIT
GOD IS ALL-POWERFUL
GOD IS PRESENT EVERYWHERE
GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING
GOD IS SOVEREIGN
GOD IS HOLY
GOD IS AN ABSOLUTE TRUTH
GOD IS RIGHTEOUS
GOD IS JUST
GOD IS LOVE
GOD IS MERCIFUL
GOD IS FAITHFUL
GOD NEVER CHANGES
Do you identify with these?
For example, if you want to ask yourself if you’re living in truth then look at number 7- God is an absolute truth!
if you believe in God and put your faith and trust in Him, then you believe in truth.
It is that simple!
The second list:
GOD’S NAMES IN SCRIPTURE
If we look at scripture, God has many identifying names.
ABBA- Father
Who we reach out for when we are in need.
ALPHA AND OMEGA- Beginning and end
We are made an eternal spirit, there is no beginning, there is no end. God is eternal.
ATTIIYQ YOUEM- The ancient of days
This means that any sense of ‘beginning’ can go back to these ancient times.
CHRISTOS- The anointed one
After Kings were anointed, they became ‘official’. God is ‘official.’
EL CHUWL- The God who gave you birth
Isn’t it interesting that we only think of birth in the literal sense, but God actually gave us birth?
EL DEAH- The God of knowledge
Anything you need to know, for your best life, God knows it and wants to communicate with you.
EL ELYON- The god most high
The God who sees.
He judges the intention of the heart and knows all.
EL OLAM- The everlasting God
He is with us, always.
EL ROI- The God who sees
God knows all.
EL SHADDAI- God Almighty
God is the only true superhero and has all of the powers to give back to us.
ELOHIM- The creator
God is perpetual motion and self-powering to the most perfect degree.
He will always be at work on our behalf.
JEHOVAH- The self-existent one
JEHOVAH BORE- The Lord creator
He created all things.
JEHOVAH JIREH- The Lord our provider
He provided all things.
JEHOVAH NISSI- The Lord our banner
If we are going into battle, metaphorically, we are holding God’s flag.
JEHOVAH RAPHA- The Lord our healer
He heals all. Anyone who comes to Him will be healed.
JEHOVAH ROHI The Lord our shepherd
He can always guide us.
JEHOVAH SABBATH- The Lord of hosts
JEHOVAH SHALOM- The Lord is peace
JEHOVAH SHAMMAH- The Lord is there
This is one of my favorites. It means that whenever you need God, He will be there.
24/7 and wherever you are, no matter what, you can rely on Him.
JEHOVAH TSIDKENU- The Lord our righteousness
You are ‘right’ and innocent when you are with God.
Now for our third list:

I want you to have this list handy so that you can plug back into who you are in God’s eyes.
Please look at this list whenever you feel you might need it.
If we think about the meaning and purpose of life, we always question who we are.
When you know who you are, you can make a plan for how you want to live; this all comes with the journey of finding your meaning and purpose.
So, who does God say I am, if I am committed to him?
In other words,
WHO AM I IN CHRIST?
While I might not cover all of these points fully today, there are specific ones here that I want to go into more detail on.
I AM GOD’S CHILD
While God does not give us physical gifts, He gives us much more- a new heart, grace, freedom from sin, salvation...the list goes on!
He gives us things that cannot break or be lost.
I AM JESUS’ FRIEND
Jesus laid down his life for us, to be our friend. This is the perfect friend to have!
I HAVE BEEN JUSTIFIED
I AM UNITED WITH THE LORD AND ONE WITH HIM
I HAVE BEEN BOUGHT WITH A PRICE- I BELONG TO GOD
God has purchased us and we have said yes! We are choosing to commit to him.
I AM A SAINT- A HOLY ONE
Because of the righteousness of God, we are innocent.
I HAVE BEEN ADOPTED BY GOD
I HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN ALL MY SINS
I AM COMPLETE IN CHRIST- I AM WHOLE
I AM FREE FROM CONDEMNATION
I AM SURE THAT ALL THINGS WILL WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD
I AM FREE FROM ALL CONDEMNING CHARGES AGAINST ME
How? Because Jesus paid for this and it doesn’t have to be paid for twice.
I CANNOT BE SEPARATED FROM THE LOVE OF GOD
This is the main one I want you to think about for this week.
No matter what happens, the love of God is there with you and you will never be separated from his love.
I HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED, ANOINTED, AND SEALED BY GOD
You are saved!
I AM CONFIDENT THAT THE GOOD WORK HAS BEGUN IN ME AND WILL BE PERFECTED
I AM A CITIZEN OF HEAVEN ALREADY
You are already there, you do not need to worry.
I AM HIDDEN IN GOD
No evil can get to us.
I HAVE NOT BEEN GIVEN THE SPIRIT OF FEAR BUT OF POWER, LOVE, AND SELF-CONTROL
The fear, sin, and junk that we inherit over the years don’t come from our own spirit but from elsewhere. Our spirit is full of power, love, and self-control.
Being aware of our fear means we can choose not to participate in it and, instead, operate from a place of love and power.
I CAN FIND GRACE AND MERCY TO HELP IN TIME OF NEED
Grace is the power to do what is necessary and we can find this in times of need if we stay committed.
I AM BORN OF GOD AND THE EVIL ONE CANNOT TOUCH ME
He can trick us, scare us, or entice us, but he cannot touch us.
I AM THE SALT OF THE EARTH AND LIGHT OF THE WORLD
I AM A BRANCH OF THE TRUE VINE. JESUS, A CHANNEL FOR HIS LIFE
‘I have been chosen and appointed by God to bear fruit before the foundations of the world; God predestined those that he foreknew to be conformed to the lightness of his son.’
What does this mean? You were chosen!
I AM A PERSONAL, SPIRIT-EMPOWERED WITNESS OF CHRIST. I AM THE TEMPLE OF GOD

I AM A MINISTER OF RECONCILIATION FOR GOD
I AM A FELLOW-WORKER WITH GOD
I AM SEEDED WITH CHRIST IN HEAVENLY REALMS
I AM GOD’S WORKMANSHIP, CREATED FOR GOOD
I MAY APPROACH GOD WITH FREEDOM AND CONFIDENCE
We can always approach him, regardless of anything that has happened.
I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME
Meaning and purpose, for me, is shown through these three lists.
We are valuable, innocent, empowered, protected, guaranteed, healed, and all of the above.
I want you to think about whether any of these lists impact your truth, meaning, and purpose, and whether they help you to fix your problems.
So, we are back to that question-
How do you fix your biggest problem?
Here is your answer.
You need to truly commit to your journey and search for what you believe. When you do this, you can discover who you are.
You don’t fix your biggest problem, God does. Placing your love and trust in Him to guide you along the way, even in the midst of pain, will show you the plan He has for you. It may not be the one you want but it will always be the one you need!
We only fix our biggest problem by tapping into God’s power, rather than our own, and giving that job to him.
Our greatest lie is that we can solely succeed by controlling our circumstances. In comparison, our greatest truth is that committing to love and surrendering to God’s love offers us real success.
Our meaning and purpose come from this.
A life of purpose is lived in love.
